AT&T wireless is slowly upgrading all the NMD’s at Mcdonalds. The new NMD should be more reliable than the old one, larger hard drive etc. In this instance the  upgrade wasn’t the only issue this location had. For an extended period of time there had been spikes in the signal. They wanted the lines rerun, the NID splitter replaced, and the NMD upgraded. After extensive testing I determined that the line was fine and the NID splitter was superfluous. I convinced the tech on the phone to have SEI test the modem and, hence, the line and it was good. The dial-out back up modem, however was not so lucky, it needed to be replaced.  Then it was on to the NMD upgrade. The manager was reluctant to lose his cashless system again (It had been down for five hours the previous day), but in a blaze of glory, I hot potato-ed it and had it back running before the screws were even tight. Whoa! Another complete job!
